A Gwinnett gang leader was sentenced to a life sentence plus 20 years after being convicted of ordering a murder from jail.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A Gwinnett gang leader was sentenced to a life sentence plus 20 years after being convicted of ordering a murder from jail, while serving time for another murder.
After a more than a week-long trial, Gordon Evans was convicted of malice murder, three counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, aggravated battery and two counts of criminal street gang activity.
On November 24, 2015, Gwinnett County Police Department responded to 2773 River Station Court, Lawrenceville, where the body of Jeffery Anderson was found with two gunshot wounds to the back of the head. Shortly after the murder, GCPD Homicide and Gang Unit detectives learned about a threatening text sent to the victim less than one month before the murder. After researching the telephone number from which the text message was sent, detectives discovered that the text was sent from a contraband cellphone being used by inmate Gordon Evans who was serving a 20-year sentence in Hays State Prison located in Summerville, Georgia.

A court-authorized wiretap was granted to intercept telephone communications sent and received over Evans’ contraband cellphone. During the wiretap investigation, Gordon Evans was intercepted bragging that
he sent “Luca Brasi” (a fictional mafia enforcer in the original Godfather movie and novel) to handle Jeffery Anderson, who had allegedly failed to pay back $500 that Evans loaned him to pay rent.
Detectives determined that Evans sent two lower-level gang members, Dossie Mann aka “Baby HD” and Durell Lewis aka “Bali” to kill Jeffery Anderson. Dossie Mann entered a guilty plea in 2017 to the shooting death of Jeffery Anderson and is serving a life sentence in the Georgia Department of Corrections. When called to testify by the prosecution, Dossie Mann refused to testify at Gordon Evans’ trial. Durell Lewis has entered a plea of not guilty and will be tried at a later date.
Evans was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 20 years to serve in prison to run consecutive to the life sentence.
During the course of the investigation, GCPD was provided substantial assistance from the FBI Atlanta Safe Streets Gang Task Force.
