- The Gwinnett County Police Department is marking the fourth anniversary of the death of Officer Antwan Toney in the line of duty. On Thursday, his fellow officers posted an image of him on social media to mark the solemn day. Officer Toney was 30 years old when he was shot and killed in 2018 while responding to a report of a suspicious car behind Shiloh Middle School. His third anniversary with the force would have been six days after his death. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Georgia Gwinnett College's School of Education has been awarded a Teacher Quality Grant worth more than $3.7 million. The grant was issued by the U.S. Department of Education and will be disbursed over a period of five years. Educators intend to use the money to address the shortage of teachers the school has been struggling with. Of the 22 schools in the country selected to receive the grant, Georgia Gwinnett College is the only one in Georgia. (Metro Atlanta CEO)
