Grayson Man Accused of Leaving Hit-and-Run Scene Tells Police He Didn’t Feel It Was a Big Deal
He now faces charges of criminal trespass, DUI-alcohol, violation of probation, hit and run, theft by receiving, failure to appear, following too closely, open container law and reckless driving.
The following Loganville or Grayson residents were booked into the Gwinnett Detention Center during the period March 10 – 19, 2013. The information comes from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department Docket Book. These individuals have been charged with, but not convicted of, the crimes listed.
Earl George Warbington, of 1427 Pinehurst Road, Grayson faces a slew of charges following a March 19 incident in which he is accused of leaving the scene of the accident.
According to the Gwinnett County Police report, Warbington reported that he was traveling north on Sugarloaf Parkway at old Norcross when the light turned red. He claimed that the vehicle in front of him had already crossed the white line, stopped and backed into him. The driver of the other vehicle, however, claimed that he stopped at the red light, Warbington didn’t and hit him in the rear. Warbington then left the scene. The front car followed, but lost track of Warbington after it allegedly made a U-turn in somebody’s yard, causing damage to the property. He was later located at a Sonic Drive-in restaurant by police and reportedly found to smell strongly of alcohol. When asked why he left the scene, he reportedly told police he didn’t feel it was a big deal. Police also found two partially consumed bottles of McCormack’s Vodka in the vehicle and he reportedly tested at .212 grams on the Intoxilyzer. There also was an outstanding warrant for Warbington’s arrest in the system. He was transported to Gwinnett County Jail where he remains without bond on a probation violation.
