Gunman On Greyhound Bus In Gwinnett County Surrenders To SWAT Team: Reports

Police negotiated for several hours Tuesday with a gunman on a Greyhound bus in Gwinnett County. SWAT officers took him into custody.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — SWAT teams and Gwinnett County police resolved an armed standoff after about six hours on a Greyhound bus on I-85, reported WSB-TV.

A bus passenger told WSB that he and the other 37 passengers had to escape through a window because the door was locked. All passengers left the bus before the SWAT team arrived and no hostages were ever taken, according to police.

The situation took place on the northbound ramp to Indian Trail, according to the news station.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate were closed for several hours, reported WGCL-TV. No injuries were reported.

The interstate was shut down in both directions until about 3 p.m. as SWAT officers negotiated with the man before officers took him into custody on the bus, the AJC reported.

Police said the negotiators tried repeatedly to get the man to drop his gun and leave the bus, but he refused. The man has not been identified and police have not said what charges he may face.
