Gwinnett Schools in Loganville, Grayson Pick Top Teachers of 2014

Every year, Gwinnett County Public Schools honor the passion and commitment of its educators with the Teacher of the Year award.

Gwinnetr County schools in Loganville and Grayson, along with other public schools in the county, have picked their top educators for the Teachers of the Year award.

“It is an honor to be recognized by your colleagues,” says Dr. Nikki Mouton, executive director of staff development. “It suggests their recognition of the efforts of our teachers on a larger scale—with their students, with adults, with parents, and the community at large. Other teachers understand that being an effective teacher is not limited to the classroom walls. They know first-hand the time, energy, and commitment that is required of teachers and for their colleagues to select them from amongst so many wonderful educators is a testament to their honor and respect for their local school teacher of the year.”

Every year, Gwinnett County Public Schools system honors the passion and commitment of its teachers during the annual Teacher of the Year recognition process that takes place each fall. One-hundred-and-thirty local school honorees are picked and will move into the next phase of the TOTY process as they are considered for the systemwide honor. Later this month, this group will be narrowed down to 25 semifinalists. From that group, six finalists will be chosen in mid-October. The annual Teacher of the Year banquet and the announcement of this year’s top teacher in Gwinnett County will be held Nov. 7.
