Police Make Over 80 Arrests During Illegal Street Racing Sting In Gwinnett County
Police arrested 68 adults along with 20 juveniles Sunday in Gwinnett County in connection to illegal street racing.
GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — More than 80 people were arrested Sunday in connection to illegal street racing, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Officers responded to a tip about illegal street racing at the intersection of Peachtree Corners Circle and Spalding Drive. Several officers from Lilburn, Norcross, off-duty officers, officers from surrounding patrol districts, and other specialized units responded to assist, they said.
Police arrested 68 adults along with 20 juveniles, they said. The minors were released into the custody of their parents or guardians. The adults were transported to the Gwinnett Detention Center.

A pizza delivery driver's vehicle was damaged as a result of the illegal street racing activity, according to police. The driver was "attempting to escape the chaos," police said.
Officers recovered five guns and impounded 26 vehicles.

"The Gwinnett Police Department is committed to stopping dangerous and illegal stunt-driving activities," the department stated in a Facebook post. "These stunts put everyone involved at risk for injury and even death.
"In addition, these activities create an unsafe environment for our residents on our roads and cause damage to the roads costing taxpayer dollars for repairs."
