Latest Gwinnett County Coronavirus Update: Loganville-Grayson

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — The new coronavirus outbreak in Georgia and across the nation continues to affect Gwinnett County, where schools are closed for the rest of the academic year and businesses remain shuttered in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 13,621 total on Monday evening, 2,702 hospitalized and 480 dead. At 6:30 p.m. Monday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 1,635 cases are the most of any Georgia locality, with 52 deaths recorded. The highest number of deaths is in Dougherty County, with 78; its total number of cases rank second at 1,245. The next highest numbers of cases are in DeKalb with 1006 cases, Cobb with 816 cases, Gwinnett with 766 cases, Clayton with 396 cases and Hall with 316 cases.

GWINNETT COUNTY CASES, DEATHS
As of 6:30 p.m. Monday, 766 coronavirus cases were recorded in Gwinnett County, with 24 deaths. All but one of the deceased were older than 63, and most had underlying health conditions.

GOVERNMENT
The Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center will close daily at 5 p.m. until further notice. The tax assessor's office is closed to the public but all services are available online, by phone or by email. For more information, see Gwinnett County's website.

Grayson's city offices remain closed to walk-in customers, but appointments to conduct specific business can be made by calling 770-963-8017. There's more information on the City of Grayson's website.

SCHOOLS

With all schools closed for the remainder of the academic year, Gwinnett County Public Schools will continue Digital Learning Days. Free meals including breakfast and lunch will be available for pick-up for any student 18 or younger at 68 schools Gwinnett County schools listed here. The student or child must be present to receive the meals but does not have to be a student at that pick-up site. Also, school buses will deliver meals at the Berkmar, Central Gwinnett, Discovery, Meadowcreek, Norcross, Shiloh, and South Gwinnett clusters, as well as at 12 schools listed here. The buses will arrive at their regular stops between 11 a.m. and noon during the week. In order to get a meal, the student will need to be at the stop when the bus arrives.
