Loganville Residents Invited to ‘Relay for Ray’ In Honor of Mayor Battling Cancer
Loganville city officials invited the community to join their team and 'Run for Ray' in this year's Relay for Life in honor of Loganville Mayor Ray Nunley.
At the March City Council meeting, Loganville City Manager Bill Jones handed Mayor Ray Nunley a shirt featuring the name of the city's team in the 2013 Walton County Relay for Life. The name of the team – Relay for Ray.
Nunley broke the news of his cancer diagnosis in November 2012. He has been undergoing treatment in his battle with lung cancer ever since. On Jan. 14, Nunley announced during his State of the City address that he would not be seeking another term. Despite a rigorous treatment schedule, Nunley has continued to attend most city council meetings.
Jones said Relay for Ray was a good way for the community to support the mayor in his battle.
