Driver Dies After Hitting Car On Shoulder Of Stone Mountain Hwy.
Authorities said the driver was fleeing a traffic stop when the accident happened. The investigation snarled traffic for several hours.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — Authorities are investigating the death of a man who fled a traffic stop Thursday, then plowed into an SUV parked on the shoulder of Stone Mountain Highway.
The incident began when Gwinnett Police officers tried to pull over a black passenger car for a traffic violation, according to Gwinnett Police spokesperson Cpl. Michele Pihera. The driver fled, and Gwinnett officers chose not to chase him.
A short time later, though, both DeKalb and Gwinnett police arrived at an accident on Stone Mountain Highway near West Park Place Boulevard. A black passenger car had struck a gold SUV parked on the side of the highway. Gwinnett County officers recognized it as the car they had just tried to stop.
