Qualifying For Seat On Grayson City Council Opens Monday
Qualifying for the two seats up for reelection on the Grayson City Council opens at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

There are two seats up for relection on the Grayson City Council and interested parties are invited to qualify at Grayson City Hall during business hours from Monday, Aug. 27 until Wednesday, Aug. 29. The qualifying is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each of the three days.
The two city council posts up for reelection are those currently held by Councilman Marc Gordon and appointed Councilwoman Laurie Anderson. The cost for qualifying is $10. There is no pay for serving on the Grayson City Council.
The election will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2012 in the Grayson Senior Center. Also on the ballot will be a referendum on whether to allow the packaged sale of malt beverages, beer, wine and distilled spirits on a Sunday. Currently the city does allow the sale of malt beverages and beer and wine on a Sunday, but not distilled spirits.

The Grayson City Council has two-year terms. The two people elected in November will serve from Jan. 2013. Last year, Mayor Jim Hinkle and Councilwomen Katie Mitchell and Allison Wilkerson Rooks were reelected to serve another two-year term. Their seats will be up for reelection again in November 2013.
