Wilkerson Announces Run for Grayson Mayor

Councilwoman Allison Wilkerson made the announcement this week as current Mayor Jim Hinkle said he will not be running for re-election. Qualifying week for the city opens Monday.

Grayson City Councilwoman Allison Wilkerson announced this week that she will be running for the mayor's seat in the upcoming November election, according to City Administrator Laura Cone. 

Current Mayor Jim Hinkle, who has held the position since 2002 and then from 1982 to 1991, said he will not be seeking re-election. 

Wilkerson has been on the council for 12 years and currently holds Post 2, another seat that is open come January. Post 4 also is open and is held by Councilwoman Katie Mitchell.

Wilkerson and anyone else seeking a spot on the council can qualify during qualifying week Monday (Aug. 26) to Wednesday (Aug. 28) from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Grayson City Hall, located at 475 Grayson Pkwy.
