  1. Bibb County deputies were attacked by a Macon childcare center employee while attempting to take her into custody for allegedly stealing wallet at her workplace, Riverside Children's Center, located at 735 Pierce Avenue just off Riverside Drive. On May 25, 20-year-old Quintescia Lachelle Coley was found with the wallet, had made transactions on Cash App using the stolen debit card, and was seen on surveillance cameras near the victim's purse. When deputies tried to arrest Coley, she struck them with her hands and feet. Coley is facing charges of Theft by Taking and two counts of Felony Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. 2. The number of teen homicides in Macon tripled in 2022, from six teenagers killed in 2020 and 2021 to 16 teens killed in 2022. Of this year's homicides, five have been teenagers. Jazmyn Revels, an 18-year-old senior who is graduating from Northeast High School, spoke about the trauma of growing up in Macon and the anger it causes. Revels explained, "Because we're so angry with things that are happening at home that we go out into the world and we don't know what to do with that anger. We don't know how to cope with it." Revels suggested mental health treatment should be in the classroom as early as elementary school to create a safe space and outlets. (wgxa.tv)
  3. Late Wednesday, May 24, Judge Connie L. Williford dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections against Mayor Lester Miller and county commissioners over the selection of an elections supervisor. According to Williford, the board is an agency of Macon-Bibb County “that lacks inherent power to sue and be sued.” And the lawsuit was "fatally flawed and had to be dismissed for violating the Georgia Constitution."
