Here are the top three stories today in Macon:

  1. According to AAA, drivers are paying an average of $3.47 for a gallon of regular gas in Macon as of Monday, Mar. 13. Experts said the slightly higher gas prices might fade soon due to demand for retail gasoline remaining low. The spike in prices is mostly attributed to the switch over to seasonal gas blends. The average Georgia gas price is $3.26. (Longview News-Journal)
  2. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the passenger of a motorcycle involved in a single-vehicle collision on I-475 north near mile marker 7, Stephanie Burnside, has died from her injuries. After a rear tire blowout, the driver of the motorcycle, a 41-year-old Alabama man, lost control and struck a guardrail. The driver is listed in stable condition in the hospital. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information to come forward. (The Georgia Sun)
  3. On Saturday, Mar. 11, 67-year-old Wanda Washington was seriously injured in a traffic collision with a tractor-trailer on Broadway Street. Witnesses told Bibb County deputies that Washington was traveling north on Broadway when she hit a tractor-trailer that was pulling out of the driveway. The driver of the trailer, 72-year-old Larry Ryder, his passenger, and Washington were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Both Ryder and Washington are in critical condition. (WGXA News)
