Here are the top three stories in Macon today:
- On Monday, May 15, Passion Watkins of Macon pleaded guilty to the murder of 37-year-old Melanie Powers and her unborn child and was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years, with the possibility of parole. In 2020, Watkins murdered her father's pregnant ex-girlfriend, who she was living with at the time. Watkins expressed remorse for her actions but could not explain why she did it to the Bibb County courtroom. (wgxa.tv)
- The Bibb County Sheriff's Office confirmed that two women were shot on Monday morning, May 15, just after 2:45 a.m. on the 4000 block of Marse Allen Road in Macon. The investigation is underway, and according to investigators, their injuries are not life-threatening. As of May 15, no further information has been released. (wgxa.tv)
- The line-up for this year's Bragg Jam in Macon was released! On Jul. 29, there will be "a diverse blend of local acts and national headliners across downtown Macon stages." - Bibb County Deputies are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspected mail thief. Deputies released a security video that shows the suspect driving on Allied Industrial Boulevard and taking mail from a mailbox, and then driving away.
