1,000 Runners Preparing For 5th Annual Lutzie 43 Road Race
The fifth annual Lutzie 43 Road Race will happen this Saturday at Lassiter High School to honor Philip Lutzenkirchen.
MARIETTA, GA — The fifth annual Lutzie 43 Road Race is taking place Saturday, August 3 at Lassiter High School to raise awareness of distracted and impaired driving. Philip Lutzenkirchen, a Lassiter High graduate, was killed as a passenger in a distracted and impaired driving related car accident on June 29, 2014. He was a student-athlete at Auburn University when he died.
The race features a 5K run beginning and ending at Lutzie 43 Field, where more than 1,000 runners are expected to join together to run to honor and remember Philip.
The Lutzie 43 Foundation was established in 2014 as a way to spread awareness about distracted and impaired driving. The foundation is involved in a variety of initiatives targeted to educate young people on safe driving habits, as well as special projects and events consistent with Philip’s passion for giving back in the communities in which he lived.
