- A devastating fire broke out at the Hamptons at East Cobb apartment complex, resulting in one fatality and displacement of 39 residents. The fire caused damage to 29 units, and the cause is still under investigation. Emergency services, including the Marietta Fire Department and Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services, partnered with the American Red Cross to support the affected individuals. (Marietta Patch)
- A mass Valentine's Day wedding ceremony is scheduled to occur at 6:00 p.m. today in the Cobb County Magistrate Court. Participants must bring a valid marriage license issued by a Georgia probate court and are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to check-in. The ceremony will take place on the third floor of Building D, where a photo booth and light refreshments will be provided for the newlyweds. (Marietta Patch)
- An unexpected and loud detonation of fireworks in the Marietta High School gymnasium caused a disturbance just before the start of classes. No students were harmed during the incident, and immediate action was taken by the school staff and resource officers to ensure the safety of all students. The Marietta Police Department has partnered with the school administration to uncover the individuals responsible for the fireworks. (MDJOnline.com)
