3 Suspects Part Of 'Dem Marietta Boys' Gang: Police
Update: Police in Marietta charge three gang members Friday, including one in connection with a shooting.

MARIETTA, GA -- Police in Marietta charged three gang members with multiple counts in connection with a shooting in the city, authorities said Friday. The day before, police executed a search warrant on a home in the 300 block of Kirkpatrick Road, where the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Franklin Ellis Summerour, was known to frequent.
Summerour was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, cruelty to a child, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, felon in possession of a firearm, reckless conduct and violation of the Criminal Street Gang Act, police said.
Law enforcement authorities said two other gang members -- Karez Freeman and Anthony Breeone Freeman -- were arrested in the operation, which Marietta police said is just part of an ongoing investigation.

Both Freemans were charged with forgery and violation of the Criminal Street Gang Act. It is unclear if or how the two suspects are related. Police said the trio is part of a dangerous hybrid street gang known for "heinous" crimes.
"All three suspects are members of a neighborhood criminal street gang that call themselves D.M.B. (Dem Marietta Boys)," Marietta police said in an advisory Friday afternoon. "D.M.B. is a conglomerate of Bloods, Crips and Gangster Disciples. Members of D.M.B. are known for participating in a wide variety of heinous criminal activity."

Law enforcement authorities are doing what they can to stop gangs from gaining a foothold in Cobb County. But in many respects, it's an uphill battle.
Last September, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds told local media that gangs were present in nearly all schools in Cobb County.
“We've seen an uptick in gang cases in Cobb, we're concerned about that, we've seen different types of gangs that run across ethnic boundaries,"Reynolds told WGCL-TV. "It's a troubling fact and it's something we really need to look hard at in this county."
All three suspects remain in the Cobb Adult Detention Center, police said.
