3-Year-Old Nailed Inside Bedroom

The Marietta mother and her boyfriend are in jail on charges of cruelty to the boy.

A Marietta woman and her boyfriend were arrested last week and accused of nailing a 3-year-old inside a bedroom.

Cindy Marie Cantu, 24, and Kyle Erwin Skinner, 23, were being held in the Sunday. Her bond is set at $15,000; his is $25,000.

had to kick down the locked, nailed bedroom door Monday at Cantu's home in the 900 block of Millwood Drive and found the 3-year-old boy wearing a soiled diaper and suffering from a severe rash while being cut off from food amid filthy conditions, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The home is off Austell Road south of the Windy Hill-Macland Road Connector.

Cantu was arrested that night at and charged with felony cruelty to children through negligence and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor, according to booking records.

Skinner was arrested at his home in Woodstock on Tuesday morning, the booking records say. In addition to being charged with one felony and two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to children and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor, he faces charges of battery and assault on an unborn.

He is accused of pushing and hitting Cantu, who is pregnant, resulting in her trip to Kennestone Hospital, the AJC said.

It is the second case in less than a week in which a mother who lives south of Marietta was arrested and charged with locking up her children.
