4. The is meeting twice this evening, first in a special called meeting at 6:15 p.m. that will go straight into executive session, then in a regular meeting at 7. Both are at the Central Office at 250 Howard St. The regular meeting will include the continuing discussion of financing options for the planned auditorium at . Also during the regular meeting, Marietta Superintendent Emily Lembeck will award $4,000 Performance Inventive Awards to four science teachers: Thomas Monti, Julie Schunk, Celis Hartley-Lewis and Stephanie Howard. “Each of these educators challenged themselves to develop and implement instructional practices that others can replicate,” Lembeck said in a news release. “They deserve to be rewarded for doing so.” Hartley-Lewis, whose project involved using computers for almost all student science assignments to improve achievement and aid the environment, and Davis-Howard, who linked physics and chemistry concepts to biology lessons, teach at Marietta High. Monti implemented student portfolios to add communication skills to the science classroom at . Schunk focused on writing in science class at the .
