70-Year-Old Man Killed Walking Across Cobb Parkway Outside Crosswalk

Marietta police are investigating the fatal pedestrian crash, which happened Tuesday. Police say the man was not using a crosswalk.

MARIETTA, GA — A 70-year-old man from Marietta was killed late Tuesday night while trying to walk across Cobb Parkway outside of a crosswalk, Marietta police said.

At 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, the 70-year-old man was attempting to cross the parkway when he darted out into the path of oncoming traffic, police said. The pedestrian ran in front of a 2010 Dodge Journey, driven by Vincent Ofoto, 63, also of Marietta.

Ofoto hit the man, who was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified, according to police.
