Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- The deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 8 General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 11. Cobb County voters will have the opportunity to participate in early voting for this election. - Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin will be hosting a Pep Rally for the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Glover Park at 5:30 p.m. The event is meant to recognize and celebrate the Braves' World Series run. Mayor Tumlin is inviting the city to decorate cars, businesses, and homes with Braves gear. Awards will be given for the best presentation at the Pep Rally. (City of Marietta)
- A Cobb County man has been charged with insurance fraud and forgery. Anthony Wright, 41 years old, reportedly made a fraudulent auto insurance claim with his insurance company in August of 2021. He claimed that his car was hit by road debris while driving along I-285. He allegedly forged a receipt for the towing service. As of Wednesday evening, county police are still searching for Wright.
