Austell Child Molester Gets 40-Year Jail Sentence
The man molested the 11-year-old girl at another child's birthday party.
MARIETTA, GA -- An Austell man has been convicted of molesting a child at a birthday party. On Wednesday, a Cobb jury found Nicholas Scott Jannotte, 34, guilty of two counts of child molestation. During another child’s birthday party in June 2017, Jannotte and the 11-year-old victim were both in a backyard pool at a residence on Mulberry Street in Austell when Jannotte exposed himself to the girl. He then touched the child inappropriately. The girl told her parents afterward, and police were contacted the next day.
During a forensic interview at SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center in Marietta, the girl gave a detailed disclosure.
“It was quite clear that this predator waited for his opportunity to take advantage of this child, and that he thought he could get away with it,” said ADA Ashton Murphy, who prosecuted the case with ADA Shep Orlow. “But this child was brave enough to come forward and face him. The community is safer because of her courage.”
