Parents in Marietta can mark the first day of school coming next week.

MARIETTA, GA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in our area, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Marietta.

The first day of school for Marietta City Schools students is Tuesday, Aug. 3.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible in Marietta.

Masks will be strongly recommended for students, staff, and visitors, but not required at Marietta City Schools facilities, on buses or at extracurricular activities.

School Holiday (Labor Day): Sept. 6

Fall Break: Sept. 27-Oct. 1

Conference Weeks (with 1:15 p.m. early release): Oct. 18-29

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22-26

Winter Holidays: Dec. 20-Jan. 5 (staff reports back Jan. 3)

School Holiday (MLK Jr. Day): Jan. 17

Winter Break: Feb. 21-25

Student Holiday/Staff Workday: March 11

Spring Break: April 4-8

Last Day: May 26
