City Council Meets; City Kids Read

Here's what you should know to start Aug. 31 in Marietta.

5. Today marks the end of the Scholastic Summer Challenge, a global push to set a record for student summer reading. Since May 1, students have recorded the time they’ve spent reading books at a website set up by children’s publisher Scholastic. Students at the , the and have contributed more than 5,300 minutes toward the global total of more than 58 million minutes, crushing the 2010 record of 52.7 million minutes of summer reading.
