Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. The Cobb County Police Department is currently accepting applications for its next Cobb County Police Cadet Program. The purpose of the program is to educate local youth in police operations, foster a career in law enforcement, and build valuable leadership skills. To qualify for the program, applicants must be at least 14 years old, have a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher, be physically fit, and be in good standing within the community. Click to learn more.   2. Cobb County 911 is implementing numerous changes to attract new employees. The 911 center is emphasizing recruiting while offering increased pay and an improved hiring process. The center hopes that the improvements will alleviate the ongoing staffing shortage while reducing some of the stress for current employees. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  3. The Georgia Department of Transportation warns that construction on I-285 might impact travel for Cobb County drivers. Travelers should expect major disruptions through the coming months as crews work on the route. Delays could potentially add about an hour to daily commutes.
