Cobb Judge Gives Cocaine Trafficker 30-Year Prison Term: ICYMI
Ferrando Rodriguez, aka Fernando Rodriguez, 41, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison, the DA says.
MARIETTA, GA -- A convicted cocaine trafficker who dealt in Marietta has been sentenced to serve 30 years in prison, Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds announced Wednesday. Ferrando Rodriguez, a/k/a Fernando Rodriguez, 41, of Gary, Ind., was convicted by a Cobb jury in June, the DA said.
Cobb prosecutors said Rodriguez was a prolific drug dealer, trafficking more than 400 grams of cocaine. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)
In June 2015, narcotics agents pulled over Rodriguez on Franklin Road in Marietta after officials obtained a search warrant. The tractor-trailer he was driving had $3 million worth of cocaine inside, the DA said.

“Trafficking is not only a crime but it represents poison on the streets of Cobb County,” Assistant District Attorney Greg Epstein, who prosecuted the case, said in a news release. Two other men were charged in the case and pleaded guilty.
The man who stuffed cocaine in the tractor-trailer, Jesus Ruben Rosillo, 53, of Texas, was sentenced last year to serve 25 years in prison. Javier Leonardo Rodriguez, 26, of Dacula, pleaded guilty in July 2016 to conspiracy to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. He was sentenced to 12 years behind bars.

Rodriguez was sentenced to 30 years behind bars by Assisting Superior Court Judge Joyette Holmes. The judge also imposed a $1 million fine against the defendant.
Rodriguez was represented by Attorney Michael Edmunds of Marietta.
