Cobb Millage Rate Hearings Today
Here's what you need to know to start the day July 19.

1. We’re back to a typically hot and humid day today, the National Weather Service says, with a high of about 92 and an increasing chance of rain through the afternoon. The chance of showers will remain 30 percent until about 2 a.m., and the overnight low will be around 72.
2. over Cobb County’s in recent memory moves to the public today with hearings before the Board of Commissioners at 100 Cherokee St. downtown at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Marietta Patch plans live coverage of the evening hearing.
3. The traditional book club goes high-tech today at 6:30 p.m. at the when a book group will discuss Garth Stein’s novel The Art of Racing in the Rain. The fun part? Stein will chat with the group via Skype.

4. The Marietta Daily Journal had an article Sunday about a fun idea, bringing food trucks to an area just off Marietta Square on a regular basis. But as the Cobb Galleria Centre pointed out on Twitter, today already is food truck day at the Atlanta Galleria office park at the edge of East Cobb. Today’s lineup includes Yumbii tacos.
5. Speaking of East Cobb, the figures to benefit all of the county with more than the mix of fresh produce and fancy meats and fish now available at the company’s in east Marietta. The company is offering 45-minute sneak-peek tours of the new store Sunday and Monday for $5. The proceeds will benefit Keep Cobb Beautiful’s Dig’n the Dirt school garden program. Advance registration is required, and slots are limited. Sign up online.
