  1. The Cobb UGA Extension will be presenting Keep Your Heart Healthy, a program organized in recognition of the American Heart Association's well-known initiative, Go Red for Women and National Wear Red Day. The program will take place on Feb. 1 at the Charles D. Switzer Library in downtown Marietta at 6:00 p.m. Attendees will learn about how to lead a more heart healthy lifestyle, what AHA recommends to keep heart healthy, and heart healthy recipes.   2. A Marietta Police Department Major was disciplined after an internal investigation revealed use of racial slurs, and multiple officers filed reports against him for the alleged targeting of Black officers. Major Patrick Bonito was disciplined for the use of a racial slur, but was not found to have engaged in inappropriate actions toward employees, according to the report from Police Chief Marty Ferrell. Bonito was assigned a different shift, suspended for 40 hours without pay, lost his leadership roles, and must take classes related to the investigation. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. A man admitted to shooting a victim, as well as himself, in the Main Station neighborhood in Marietta early Tuesday morning. Currently, police do not have information regarding the relationship between the two men or what motive Antoine McCain, 43, had to shoot Ricky Robinson, 34. Both men were taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries after being treated by the Cobb County Fire Department. (WSB Atlanta)

  • Over the weekend, the Marietta High School's Mr. Blue Devil Pageant raised over $3,000 for Light the Night, a benefit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. MHS senior Summit Troutman was crowned as the 2023 Mr. Blue Devil after raising the most funds and competing in the pageant's three categories. (Marietta City Schools via Facebook)

  • During the month of February, visitors to the William Root House will be able to view the house as it would have appeared during a Victorian-era wedding and reception. There will also be an after-hours program called "Sex, Love, and Marriage in Victorian America" on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. for guests 18 years and older for $15 per person.
