Cookies for the Holidays: Peanut Butter Blossoms
This is a classic, and if you've never made them before, it's easy. We prefer dark chocolate Hershey Kisses โ easier to justify as a "healthy" cookie.

Peanut Butter Blossoms
- 48ย HERSHEY'S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates
- 1/2 cupย shortening
- 3/4 cupย REESE'S Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1/3 cupย granulated sugar
- 1/3 cupย packedย light brown sugar
- 1ย egg
- 2 tablespoonsย milk
- 1 teaspoonย vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cupsย all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoonย baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoonย salt
- Granulated sugar
Directions
- 1ย Heat oven to 375ยฐF. Remove wrappers from chocolates.ย
- 2ย Beat shortening and peanut butter in large bowl until well blended. Add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into peanut butter mixture.ย
- 3ย Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar; place on ungreased cookie sheet.ย
- 4ย Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a chocolate into center of eachย
cookie; cookie will crack around edges. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.ย
