Did My Trash Pickup Change? New Routes For Some Begin Sunday

The city of Marietta's sanitation division has modified some residents' sanitation and recycling schedules, which go in effect Aug. 1.

MARIETTA, GA — Some residents will see a change to their recycling and trash pickup schedules starting Sunday, the city of Marietta announced this week.

The city's sanitation division has modified the affected sanitation schedules to "provide for more efficient recycling collection," a news release said.

"As we manage growth throughout the city of Marietta, we find it necessary to adjust sanitation and recycle routes from time to time in our effort to provide efficient recycling collection," the release reads. "Findings from our most recent analyses of our recycle routes indicate a new route collection day in certain areas is necessary."

Residents who participate in recycling collection are asked to have your recycling at curb side by 7 a.m.on Wednesday, Aug. 4.

Citizens living in the affected areas received a letter during the week of July 15, but the city posted another notice in case residents didn't read or receive the letter. The list of affected streets can be accessed here.

The city also offers a free app called “Trash Talk” for all smart phones. The app provides reminders of your normal sanitation collection dates, holiday collection date changes and changes in service that may be due to weather or issues beyond anyone's control. The app also provides quick information regarding household items that can and cannot be collected at the curb and help as to how certain items can be disposed.
