MARIETTA, GA — A Marietta man is facing charges after police say a car he left on a set of railroad tracks was hit by a train Monday near South Marietta Parkway.

Officers responded around 3:45 a.m. to the CSX railroad crossing. Police said the train rammed the vacant black Honda Civic after it was left abandoned near the Waverly Way and Powder Springs Street intersection.

The train never left the tracks, but it did push the car, police said. The crash caused the railway to be shut down for about an hour.
