Here are the top stories in Marietta today:
- Marietta Fire Engine 51 responded to an interesting call earlier this week as a stray dog got stuck inside a car near the engine. A man was driving during the day when he stopped for a dog in the middle of the street. The animal ran under his car and eventually too up near the engine and got trapped between a firewall and the engine air box. After a bit of effort, the rescue team removed the air box and successfully secured the dog, who is now with Cobb County Animal Services. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- 19-year-old Ezra Dangelo Ford pleaded guilty to an armed robbery committed in 2021 this week and will face ten years in prison followed by five years on probation. On Apr. 12, Ford was going to meet with the victim and hang out, which resulted in Ford pulling a firearm on the victim and stealing his bookbag with personal items and skateboard. The victim pointed out Ford in a lineup later on. Assistant District Attorney Nolan Slifko is the one responsible for negotiating the accepted plea that Ford was sentenced to. (Cobb County Courier)
- The 2023 Glover Park Concert Series lineup has been officially announced and will be held on the final Friday of each month from April to September. Sponsored by the Marietta Dental Associates, these free concerts will be held every Friday, rain or shine, starting at 8 p.m. Whether you want to make your own picnic or enjoy eating at one of the fine restaurants in the area, the choice is yours, each show will be held at Glover Park on historic Marietta Square.
