Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. Cobb County's Northwest Water Reclamation Facility has released 5.72 million gallons of treated wastewater which did not meet the facility's discharge standards. The discharge occurred on Thursday, Nov. 17 into Lake Allatoona. The improper discharge is categorized as a "spill" by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The spill was detected through routine compliance sampling. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Marietta firefighters claim Fire Chief Tim Milligan is not properly advancing firefighters through the city's pay structure. City officials are claiming the statement is not true. The City of Marietta conducted a pay study earlier this year and approved raises for employees. The firefighters are reporting low wages are the primary reason for the recent surge in resignations. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registrations has recertified the midterm election results. The recertification occurred on Wednesday during a meeting at 2:30 p.m. The recertification was necessary after the Kennesaw City Council Post 1 recount changed the results. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
