Georgia Power Raises Over $7K For Kids In Need
The power company, alongside its African American-focused employment program, did some good for needy kids this year.
MARIETTA, GA — Employees of Georgia Power began the giving season last week by holding the First Annual Toys for Tots Golf Tournament at the City Club of Marietta, according to a press release.
The tournament consisted of Citizens of Georgia Power's Plant Bowen chapter and Valuing Openness, Inclusion, Community and Education (VOICE), the company's African American focused employment resource group.
In total, they raised over $7,200 and donated 70 toys for kids in need this holiday season, the release says.

Citizens of Georgia Power is the Georgia Power Company's volunteer arm, with 42 chapters statewide and nearly 3,500 members, the release says, who contributed time equal to $3.5 million in 2018, the release says.
VOICE creates and sustains an inclusive atmosphere at Georgia Power by supporting African American employment and retention, according to the release.
