Get a Behind Scenes Look at Marietta Government

The city of Marietta will offer a behind-the-scenes look this fall at the organizational structure of its government. Since the program began in 2000, more than 250 people have graduated, many of whom have gone on to serve on various city boards and commissions.

About the Citizens' Government Academy

  • Free five-week course to familiarize participants with Marietta government
  • Hands-on look at how city departments operate
  • Eight sessions beginning Monday, Nov. 4
  • Reception and graduation ceremony will complete course Wednesday, Dec. 11

How to participate

  • Live or own a business within Marietta's city limits
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be able to complete five of the eight classes
  • Deadline: Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m., register here

Enrollment

  • Limited to first 25 people who register
  • Organizers will contact people already on waiting list from past Academies to give them first chance to sign up

  • Presentations from Marietta's department managers, staff, line workers and elected officials
  • See how taxpayers' dollars are spent
  • Meet Marietta City Manager, Bill Bruton
  • Get a first-hand look at citywide revitalization and development
