Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- The Marietta History Center will be hosting "Ghosts and Ghouls" on Saturday, Oct. 15. This Halloween-themed Pop-In event will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will get to interact with the museum, make Halloween-themed crafts, and visit with authors Rosalind & Maggie Bunn. "Ghosts and Ghouls" will be free to attend. (Cobb County Courier)
- Local business owners on the Church Street section of Marietta Square claim that Bridger Properties is pushing them out. The big developer purchased Marietta Station and a large swath of specialty shops on Church Street earlier this year. The developer has reportedly been increasing rents and offering only month-to-month lease extensions. Rumors about the strip of shops being slated for restaurant development have been circulating through Marietta. (Cobb County Courier)
- The Cobb County Police Department is currently investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on I-75 northbound near Ernest Barrett Parkway on Sunday morning. The crash involved two department officers. The officer's patrol vehicles were on the side of the road during a traffic stop when a 2021 Honda Accord struck the first vehicle, pushing it into the second. Officer Gary Marsicek was transported to Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition. (Georgia Sun)
