- An Alabama man was taken into custody after calling 911 on himself and triggering an evacuation at the East Gate shopping plaza Saturday morning. Robert Devlin, 37, of Lincoln, Alabama, is charged on suspicion of false report of a crime, false public alarm, and destructive devices, police said. The Cobb County Police bomb squad recovered a device that resembled a pipe bomb from Devlin's truck at around 12 p.m., but no other devices were found. The truck was impounded and the area reopened to the public around 3 p.m. Devlin is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on a $60,000 bond. (Patch)
- The Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum announced it will debut an exclusive new collection of artifacts by end of March. Located at Historic Brumby Hall, the collection will exhibit new memorabilia relating to the book and movie. Highlights of the collection include the original Bengaline honeymoon gown worn by Scarlett O'Hara, Margaret Mitchell's personal volumes of the novel, and more. The exhibit is owned by Vicky Lynn Rogers, who has been collecting the items for more than 30 years. For more information, visit the link. (Marietta Gone With the Wind Museum via Facebook)
- State Sen. Ed Setzler filed legislation last week to reinstate Republicans' county commission district map on the Cobb Board of Commissioners. Senate Bill (SB) 236 comes after Setzler filed SB 124, which prohibits Georgia counties from drawing their own district lines. If passed, the tandem bills could overrule the Democrats' "home rule" effort designed to amend the district lines and keep Democratic Commissioner Jerica Richardson in office. (Yahoo News)
