Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- Marietta police arrested a Dallas, Georgia man involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured two construction workers. Sources say on Sunday, Mar. 12 around 1:40 a.m. officers responded to reports of a person hit on Roswell Road under the I-75 overpass. Construction workers Jimmy Varraza and Oscar Aguilar were out of their car setting up a directional traffic board for a lane closure when they were struck. (WSB-TV)
- Strategic Real Estate Partners, an Atlanta-based development company, has proposed for 57 acres of undeveloped land off I-575 at Chastain Road in Marietta. The developer is requesting rezoning to build 372,400 square feet of warehouse space across three buildings, 109 townhomes, 150 senior-living apartments, 10,500 square feet of office space, and nearly 40,000 square feet of retail space between Chastain and Big Shanty roads. - Georgia baseball's powerful hitters excelled against their non-conference competition one last time before their SEC opener. The Bulldogs beat the Terriers pitching staff in a 10-8 win this past Tuesday at Foley Field. Freshman first baseman and Marietta native, Charlie Condon, continued his red-hot start to the year, hitting 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Condon earned Co-SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Monday after winning Co-SEC Player of the Week last week. (Dawg Nation)
