Holiday Closures, Visit Santa, Recycle Trees, 'It’s a Wonderful Life'

While celebrating the holidays, here are a few things to remember this week. Take a look at what's opened and closed in Marietta, what's happening at the Strand Theatre, when you can visit Santa and more.

Marietta Closures

Dec. 24
  • Marietta City  and Marietta Power and Water offices closed.
  • The Cobb County Public Library System will be closed.

Dec. 25
  • Marietta City  and Marietta Power and Water offices closed.
  • The Cobb County Public Library System will be closed.
Police, fire and other services essential for public safety and health will remain open.

It’s a Wonderful Life Marathon at the Strand Theatre, Monday, Dec. 23

Take a break from your last minute holiday shopping and remember the importance of family and compassion with It’s a Wonderful Life. In this true holiday classic, an angel (Henry Travers) helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman (James Stewart) by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. Get here half an hour early for a holiday preshow and sing along on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ. Tickets are general admission, $8 for adults and $7 for seniors, students, and military.

Visit with Santa on Marietta Square

Santa will be on Marietta Square:

  • Monday, December 23: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, December 24: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
