'I Will Blow Your Brains Out': Man Arrested In Attempted Carjacking In Marietta

"I will blow your brains out," police say Lan Weddington uttered to victim, who gave him keys to a 2002 Corvette in Marietta.

MARIETTA, GA -- A man is behind bars Thursday after an alleged attempted carjacking at a Marietta gas station this week, Patch has learned.

The incident happened late Tuesday in the 600 S. Marietta Parkway at a Quiktrip when Lan Weddington approached a vehicle and told the occupant, “I will blow your brains out,” according to news reports.

While Weddington never produced a firearm, he was acting as if he had one in his waist and demanded the keys to the victim’s car, which he received. Weddington then drove off.

Police fanned out in search of the vehicle, finding the 2002 Corvette on Merritt Street — and Weddington walking away.

As officers approached him, he hopped onto another vehicle and gestured as if he had a weapon.

“He makes an abrupt turn, acts like he’s pulling a gun from his waistband and points at the officers. Our officers refrained from taking immediate action. They were able to calm him down. At that point, he appeared to have a medical condition,” Marietta Police spokeswoman Brittany Wallace told WSB-TV.

He then began to act like he was having a "medical emergency," according to WXIA-TV, which reports that he was then taken into custody and rushed to Kennestone Hospital and later Cobb ADC because of his behavior.

Weddington’s wife told police that she believed her husband was trying to get shot by police. She commended officers for not firing their weapons.

Weddington is charged with receipt, possession or transfer of firearm by a convicted felon and theft by taking, according to records with the Cobb Sheriff's Office.
