MARIETTA, GA — A Canton man is facing multiple charges after he was driving under the influence of some type of drug and totaled two Marietta Police Department cars early Saturday morning, authorities said.

Three officers — Ken Wishon, Matthew Salyers and Connor McDonald — were responding to a minor car accident on Interstate 75 near the Roswell Road ramp, and parked their two police cars near the ramp with blue lights flashing. That's when Andrew Ashworth, 45, slammed his pickup truck into McDonald's police car, forcing it to hit Salyers' car, according to the incident report.

McDonald was not in the vehicle when the crash happened, but Salyers was completing paperwork in the driver's seat of his car at the time. He was treated on the scene for minor injuries from the wreck. Wishon and McDonald were not injured.

Shortly after the crash, Ashworth fell unconscious. MPD officials said officers used Narcan to revive him and he was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

All three cars were totaled in the wreck. The investigation is still ongoing and Ashworth will "eventually face numerous charges," according to MPD officials.
