  1. After eliminating the ability to comment under articles in August 2022, the Cobb County Courier will reinstate comments. According to the online publisher, commenting was disabled due to unnecessary arguments or negativity on the website. The Cobb County Courier will now use the Disqus system to manage comments. The publishers hope to foster a sense of community while managing problematic comments. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. According to Cobb County officials, Cobb County Elections Director Janine Eveler is retiring after 18 years of service. The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registrations will soon launch a nationwide search for a new director. They will research the use of an outside search firm to help find qualified candidates. Eveler will remain in her position through the March municipal election. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The Marietta City Schools (MCS) have approved a multi-million dollar initiative to raise literacy rates and fight learning loss. The MCS Board of Education approved 40 new full-time reading specialists to work with grades 1-5 next school year. The goal is to increase intensive reading instruction with a smaller student-teacher ratio. (Marietta City Schools)

  • Cobb County Animal Services is hosting an adoption event today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.! Pets are free for every customer who visits.
