Cobb Man Sentenced In 'Disturbing' Child Molestation Case

Prosecutors say a man secretly took exploitative photos of a child and put them online.

MARIETTA, GA — A Cobb County man was sentenced to prison after prosecutors say he secretly took explicit photos of a child, shared them online and had at least 100 videos of repeated abusive acts.

Cobb County District Attorney Sonya F. Allen on Tuesday said Cooper Hamilton, 20, pled guilty to sexual exploitation and other charges following a probe that started in February 2024.

Cobb County Police began investigating Allen after receiving a tip from the FBI. The tip stated Hamilton had produced and shared unlawful material involving a child on the "dark web," prosecutors said.

Hamilton pled guilty to 25 charges of aggravated child molestation and sexual exploitation of children and was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years, prosecutors said.

Presiding Cobb County Superior Court Judge A. Gregory Poole called the evidence "disturbing," prosecutors said.

“This case represents one of the most serious violations of trust and innocence that we see in the criminal justice system,” Allen said in a news release. “We are grateful to the investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to secure justice for the victim.”
