- Marietta's all-day "4th in the Park Celebration" on Tuesday promises an exciting Independence Day experience. The "Let Freedom Ring" parade begins at 10 a.m., followed by a festival on Marietta Square featuring arts, crafts, a kids' zone, food, and free concerts. The day concludes with a dazzling fireworks display. (East Cobb News)
- A Philadelphia woman, identified as Keiyotta India Cooper, is facing charges of murder after allegedly stabbing a Marietta man, Dearish Morris, multiple times in a hotel room on Jun. 21. After the incident, Cooper concealed Morris' body and fled the state in a vehicle borrowed by the victim. The owner of the vehicle tracked it using GPS and alerted Virginia authorities, who eventually arrested Cooper. She is currently in custody in Virginia and awaiting extradition to the Cobb County Jail to face charges of felony murder, theft by taking, and felony aggravated assault. (Marietta Patch)
- Due to a sewage spill at Willeo Creek Park in Roswell, the south end of the Chattahoochee River has been closed to the public as a precautionary measure. Elevated E. coli levels prompted the closure, extending from the Chattahoochee Nature Center to downstream sections. The closure is in response to unsafe water quality test results and aims to protect public health. (11Alive.com WXIA)
