- A Cobb County jury acquitted a Marietta man accused of an attack at a gas station. Dave Anthony Williams, who allegedly attacked another man with a machete at an Austell gas station in 2019, was acquitted of all charges this week. In April 2021, Williams had been indicted on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated battery, and battery. (Subscription: MDJOnline.com)
- On Thursday night, an hour-long SWAT standoff in Cobb County ended with someone in custody. Concluding early Friday morning, the five-hour-long SWAT standoff happened after a domestic incident involving juveniles was reported. A suspect is currently in custody, and police said no one was injured. (Marietta Patch)
- An update on this weekend's road work and lane closure: The Cobb County Department of Transportation Weekly Travel Advisory says all scheduled road work this weekend is subject to change due to weather conditions. Watch out for heavy delays and daily lane closures along Powder Springs Street between Sandtown Road and South Marietta Parkway. (Cobb County Courier)

- Marietta City Schools are hosting a Reading Specialist Job Fair on Monday, Feb. 6. The job fair will be held at Park Street Elementary at 6:30 p.m. The county is looking to hire more help after the $7 million investment in children's literacy. (Marietta City Schools via Facebook)
- Remember to bid on your favorite items at the Davis PTA auction. Many of the items are still well below their value. Your child will want to experience a fun experience with their teacher. The auction is open until Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (Davis Elementary School PTA via Facebook)
- On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the City will host a Ward 2, 3, and 4 Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. Town hall meetings are held in the City Hall Council Chambers.
