Kidnapped Children Recovered After Dad Stabbed In Home Invasion

A Cobb man said masked men and his ex-girlfriend broke into his trailer, stabbed him and kidnapped his kids, who were found safe in Decatur.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Three children were found safe roughly 20 miles away from their home after several masked men and the father's ex girlfriend broke in, stabbed the father and kidnapped the kids, Cobb County police said.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Cobb police responded to a report of a person stabbed in Mableton and found Danny Bernal, 31, in his trailer suffering from several sharp force trauma injuries and lacerations, police said.

Bernal told police that several masked men, as well as his ex-girlfriend, forced their way into his home, stabbed him and kidnapped his three kids. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, Cobb police spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Delk told Patch.

Cobb police tracked down the children at a Super 8 Motel on Church Street in Decatur. Detectives responded to the hotel early Thursday morning and, with help from the Decatur Police Department, were able to recover the children unharmed in a hotel room.

Two other children were found in the room as well, but they were not part of the Cobb County kidnapping. It's not clear why those two kids were in the room.
