Live Marietta Traffic Map: Find Congested Routes, Construction Zones, Traffic Cameras

Thanksgiving will have 1.4 million Georgia drivers on the road. Here's a look at which routes to avoid this holiday.

MARIETTA, GA — There will be 1.4 million Georgia residents traveling this Thanksgiving, with more than 1.2 million on the roadways, according to AAA South. The travel forecast is a 3.5 percent increase over last year as gas prices are among the in the past decade.

You'll have to pack fast if you want to get out of town ahead of the worst time to travel: Google Maps says that will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday. If you have to leave Wednesday, hit the road before 5 a.m. to avoid traffic delays.

The best time to head home? Friday morning at 6 a.m. The worst time to come home isn't Sunday, according to Google. It's actually Saturday at about 4 p.m.
