Oversight Committee Term Extended
The committee's recommendations have already been put to use with the elimination of furlough days for employees, a retooling of employee benefits and the elimination of some vacant positions.
The voted Tuesday to extend the life of the county’s Citizen Oversight Committee.
The committee, charged with developing a report on how the county can save money and make other improvements, has simply run out of time, Committee Chairman Brett McClung told the Marietta Daily Journal.
When the committee was created, its end date was to be Dec. 31, 2011. That means commissioners needed to extend the Citizen Oversight Committee’s life another 90 days, until March 31, 2012, to make sure the committee is still authorized to give the report and all work is finished.
The committee’s recommendations have already been put to use with the elimination of furlough days for employees, a retooling of employee benefits and the elimination of some vacant positions.
