Mableton Voting Precinct To Stay Open Late Due To Delayed Start
Cobb County officials said voting in Mableton Tuesday was light.

MABLETON, GA — A Mableton precinct is staying open late due to a delayed start Tuesday in the city's election runoff, according to Cobb County officials in a news release.
Cobb County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Childs ordered Mableton Elementary School to remain open until 7:10 p.m., 10 minutes past the initial cut-off time for voting in the city's mayoral and City Council races.
Polls in Georgia are to open at 7 a.m. on Election Day; however, the Mableton precinct did not open until 7:10 a.m. as workers were setting up machines, according to the release. On a light voting day Tuesday, county officials said poll managers reported no one was standing in line at 7 a.m.

Mableton residents are voting in the city's first-ever runoff since becoming incorporated after the November 2022 general election.
People first voted on March 21 in a historical special election, but that election did not decide several winners, leading to the April 18 runoff.

Mayoral candidates Aaron Carman and Michael Owens will face off once more after Carman garnered 36 percent of the votes to Owens' 31 percent.
Monica Delancy had 38 percent while Dami Oladapo had 33 percent of the votes in the race for the District 2 city council seat.
Keisha Jeffcoat had 31 percent with Yashica Marshall securing 24 percent of the votes in the District 3 city council race.
Patricia Auch held on to 46 percent of the votes for District 4 city council while Cassandra Brown had 20 percent of the votes.
TJ Ferguson had 41 percent of the votes for District 5 city council while Cheryl Davis had 32 percent.
To vote in the runoff, voters had to have been registered by Feb. 21.
