Suspect Accused Of Dumping A Body In A Cobb County Dumpster Indicted On Murder Charge
The man was arrested in October on charges related to the discovery of the body found in a dumpster, and now faces murder charges, too.
COBB COUNTY, GA — The Cobb County man arrested on charges related to the discovery of a decomposing body in a dumpster is now also accused of killing that person, too.
Cobb police found the body in a dumpster behind a Kennesaw business Oct. 9, and Garfield Royes Norris, 52, was arrested three days later. The arrest warrant said he wrapped the body — later identified as James Harold Creighton — in layers of plastic, tarps and cardboard before placing him in the dumpster, Patch previously reported.
But he was not charged directly with causing Creighton's death, until last week, multiple news outlets reported.

A Cobb County grand jury indicted Norris on five charges on Thursday: malice murder; concealing a death; theft by conversion; removing a license plate with the intent of concealing a vehicle's identity; and possession of methamphetamine, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The indictment does not indicate how Creighton died, but investigators said they believe he was killed sometime between Sept. 21 and Oct. 9.
Authorities then accused Norris of taking the victim's black BMW and attempting to pass it off as his own car using a fraudulent temporary tag and fake bill of sale. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the drug charge stems from Norris possessing meth when he was arrested.
Norris has been in the Cobb County jail since his arrest without bond. The Cobb County District Attorney Office is prosecuting the case, and the next court appearance was not scheduled as of Wednesday.
